What is Success?

Is success having a bank account with a number looking like a mobile number? Is it driving a fancy car? Is it getting a 90+ ATAR? Is it owning the latest apple products? Is it getting married and owning a home by the time your 30?

Success is often measured by external factors and materialistic products. By this I mean owning a home, getting into law school or owning a designer bag etc... We as humans often tend to look at what flashy things other people have and measure our own success by what we don’t have.

Success is something you need to define yourself and should be measured internally. Am I content? Am I living by my values and beliefs? Success and fulfillment shouldn’t come from attempting to fit into societal moulds.

Success looks different on everyone because we aren’t all the same and we have different desires and goals. Do not sell your successes short by constantly comparing it to others and minimising your own. In chasing someone else’s idea of success you’ll find yourself struggling to be truly content within yourself.

Sometimes it can be overwhelming to work through these ideas alone. If you would like to book in for some extra support, feel free to contact us on 8838-8687 or book an appointment online and come in to see one of our friendly Psychologists.
